Teamwork!!
Fountaindale's exhibition of student learning is rights around the corner and kindergartners are working hard to become animal experts. To help reinforce their learning, we are working on creating habitat murals. Students in Mrs. Ward and Mrs. Mauriello's classes are working together to create either a farm, ocean or forest habitat to show what they have learned so far!
Klee Fish
We were inspired by the painting Sinbad the Sailor when painting our fish. We had to use what we know about color, line, and shape to create patterns on our fish. Adding the patterns to our fish helped us to use our mind's well by reinforcing math concepts. We used tempera paint for the background and watercolor markers for the designs.
Self Portraits
Klaire
Kindergartners did a fantastic job on their realistic self portraits. They looked in a mirror to make they were making their drawings accurate. We discussed how art can show us what people looked like a long time ago and thought it was important for us to remember how we looked as kindergartners. I wonder if we can hold on to these until students are fifth graders?!
Snowy Night
Kindergartners learned about Vincent Van Gogh and his painting Starry Night. They thought about his inspiration for the artwork and what it would look like if the title was changed to a Stormy Night, Summer Night and Autumn Night. Our final projects were of what we thought the painting would look like if the title changed to Snowy Night. Students enjoyed the cutting, gluing, and adding a little sparkle for the holidays.
